The Kentucky Wildcats are 61 days away from their season opener against the Youngstown State Penguins on September 5, 2026. As the countdown continues, we're breaking down the roster. Today's focus is No. 61, offensive lineman Jason Ekperuoh.
Ekperuoh is a massive 6'6", 354-pound offensive lineman originally from Quebec. He played high school football in Tennessee. 247Sports rated him a three-star prospect and the No. 234 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class.
He had interest from other schools. But Ekperuoh chose Kentucky. He redshirted as a freshman in 2025. Then he stayed with the Wildcats through the coaching change this offseason.
Head coach Will Stein has rebuilt the offensive line for the 2026 season. Ekperuoh will provide depth behind the starters. That's a key role for a young lineman still developing.
Going forward, Kentucky's coaches will be looking for guys to step up into starting roles. Ekperuoh will get a chance to do that. His size alone — 6'6", 354 pounds — gives him a physical advantage.
The Wildcats open the season at home against Youngstown State on September 5. That game will be the first look at Stein's rebuilt roster. Ekperuoh could see his first real game action.
For now, he's a redshirt freshman with time on his side. The coaching staff likes his potential. If he keeps developing, he could become a starter in the future.
